To provide a history and database of the John A. Ebert Furniture Factory from its founding in Philadelphia, Pa in 1854 to its move to Red Lion, Pa and closing in 1959.
We recently bought a very lovely Ebert Mahogany Secretary, made in Red Lion, PA. It is Unit No. 218. The Shelves in the desk are horizontal rather that the vertical slots shown in various pictures. I wonder if the Unit number and this detail would help date this piece. It is a tribute to the excellent manufacturing pratices that the secretary is in such great condition. Any information is appreciated. Ed and Sharon Kelley edkelley@aol.com
